Abstract |
Purpose:The effects of dietary Saccharomyces boulardii (Sb) and probiotic bacterium Lactobacillus rhamnosus (LR) on growth performance, antioxidative status, and immune genes in Common carp (Cyprinus carpio) were investigated in the present study. Method: Fish with initial weight 6.3±1.12g were randomly allocated into 12 tanks (20 fish per tank) and triplicate groups were fed a control diet or diets containing Sb (6×109 CFU/Kg), LR (1.5× 1010 CFU/Kg), and Sb + LR (6×109 CFU/Kg+1.5× 1010 CFU/Kg) for 45 days. Result: At the end of the feeding trial, the results showed that growth parameters were enhanced in Sb + LR groups compared to the control group (p< 0.05). LR+Sb supplemented dietary was significantly increased the final weight, specific growth rate (SGR) and weight gain (P<0.05) compared to the control. A noticable increase in protease and lysozyme activity was observed in treatment groups fed with both LR and Sb, compared to the control fish (P < 0.05). No alteration was seen in serum total immunoglobulin (Ig) (P > 0.05). Combination diatary of LR and Sb increased the expression of IL-8, TNF-a, lys and TGF-β genes (P < 0.05) while not affecting the expression of IL-10 gene (P > 0.05). Catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GPX), and superoxide dismutase (SOD)) activity increased significantly (P < 0.05) in fish fed both LR and Sb as compared to the control. Conclusion: This study showed the potentially combination effects of LR and Sb on growth performance, antioxidative capacity, and mucosal immunity in Common carp. |
