Abstract
In this study, the effect of dry extract of portulaca oleracea on the microbial flora of rainbow trout was evaluated. Therefore, from 600 rainbow trout with an average weight of 3.30 ± 0.1 g in a completely randomized design in 5 levels including 0% (control, T0), 0.5% (T1), 1% ( T2), 1.5% (T3), and 2% (T4), dried portulaca oleracea extract per kg of food with three replications were tested in 15 300 liter plastic tanks (40 fish per tank).
Sampling of fish in the treatments was performed by simple random sampling after 60 days of the experimental period. After sampling, the intestinal microbial flora was assayed. One of the positive results of dry portulaca oleracea extract was the increase of beneficial intestinal bacteria in 1% treatment. (p <0.05). Overall, the results of this study show that the level of 1% of dry portulaca oleracea extract can be used in combination with food to improve nutritional efficiency in aquatic animals.
