Abstract |
Abstract Tilapia fish has become one of the most popular fish to farm around the world for, reasons including rapid growth and low cost. It is likely that the increase in consumption demand will be such that tilapia keeps name as one of the important protein sources in the 21st century. On the other hand, tilapia is a non-native species with a high growth rate and excessive spawning, so it can damage the genetic reserves of native species. Therefore, the production of monosex male population can prevent problems. In current aquaponic system the nutrient rich water from the fish tank that contains fish waste entered the plants bed, then nitrate ions were absorbed by roots of the plants. since system was depending on natural balance of nutrients through fish, bacteria, and plants, it was unnecessary to replace the water in aquaponics tanks. In the present study , 17-beta-estradiol (E2) hormone with dosage 35 (mg/kg ) mixed to diet. Then fish after yolk sac absorption were fed for 60 days. The experiment was conducted in a 300 m2 greenhouth for one year. Water temperature was 24-29 °C and constant. Rearing system was NFT aquaponic system. For this purpose 20 rearing tanks with a capacity of (length 2, width2, depth 0.9) m were prepared. Total amount of water consumed was 70 m3 without water replace and water input 1 l/s for each pond. Stocking density of monosex fish 120,000 fingerling tilapia from (5 to 12 g) in 40 m2. Also density of plants were 10 cm apart, in the culture tubes and including Kapia Peppers, French Lettuce, Albion Strawberry (Fragaria x Ananassa),Baby Sun Rose (Grandiflora Portulaca),Italian Genovese Basil, crane's-bill (Geranium), Coleus (Solenostemon) Base on result the final weight of fish was average 600 g and growth status of the plants reported suitable. |
